the band

Mary started off as a solo act, playing on Market Street and Waterfront Park in Downtown Charleston, SC, and in living rooms in the Lowcountry. That evolved into the occasional coffee house and any other event that was open to her music. In 2005 she began playing with her former band, Fireside, alongside Adam Marshall, Andrew Poe, and Chris Harris.

In Summer of 2006, Mary recorded her debut album, Faith Like. The album was released in January 2007, and former Fireside members, Marshall and Harris, accompanied her on her Walking On Water Tour. Charles McCallum was introduced as a potential lead guitarist in the Summer of 2007, and was playing regularly for Mary by the Fall.

Some said that 'they would make beautiful music together," and so they did. Charles asked Mary to be his wife, and they tied the knot on November 1, 2008. Currently, they are working on a second album to be recorded.

Mary Swanson McCallum - lead vocal, rhythm guitar

People have always said that I am an emotional person, and I know its true. Ever since I can remember, I have always worn my heart on my sleeve. And its not a bad thing, because I always know where to find it. Every painting, every picture, every song, and every story, every letter, and every note, has been the culmination of my emotional journey.

I think I would much rather call it passion. I have always been passionate. My greatest moments as an artist have been in a small room, sitting on a bed, with tears streaming down my guitar. Or instances when I am using every ounce of strength not to get the tears on the canvas. So, to the sensitive ones I say, be sensitive, but let it be a righteous sensitivity.
